Damson Ghyll

Damson Ghyll is situated at Latterhead, Loweswater in the Vale of Lorton in the secluded north west part of the Lake District National Park and is an ideal base for walking, cycling and touring. The towns of Cockermouth (Wordsworth’s birthplace) and Keswick are nearby. Latterhead is a small hamlet enclosed by Low Fell on one side and by the higher mountains of Whiteside and Grasmoor on the other. There are 3 lakes within easy reach of Latterhead – Loweswater itself, Crummock Water with its backdrop of Melbreak and Buttermere surrounded by its own set of fells – Red Pike, High Stile, Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike. The Vale of Lorton can be easily accessed over any of several beautiful passes – Whinlatter, Newlands or Honister from Borrowdale or simply off the A66 from Cockermouth. For cyclists, the Coast to Coast (C2C) route passes the front gate.
